His only mistake was not including this sentence in the original tweet: “my views are my own and do not represent the Rockets or the NBA”. That’s really all he’s saying with the tweets and he’s correct in doing so.
Good on Morey for this amazing non apology. Was going to be really disappointed if he actually apologized.
Daryl Morey is not going anywhere. He posted on his personal Twitter account. He wasn't speaking on behalf of the Houston Rockets. We actually are allowed to disagree with our government unlike in 1-party China. The Rockets owner would be foolish to let him go because of that. Don't expect the NBA to admonish the Houston Rockets either as the NBA commissioner is supposed to be a progressive leader leading a progressive league. If the Rockets GM Daryl Morey were to get fired then the Rockets owner Tillman Fertitta would receive an even more powerful backlash from TRUE Rockets fans. The NBA doesn't really need China. Let them cut ties for all we care.

As I stated in another thread this is all Morey needs to do. Just because you call someone a jerk while driving a Ford doesn't mean that you're responsible if that person crashes his car into a Ford dealership later.
And one would think he would have been under tremendous pressure to issue a real apology. But this was also his bottomline. Hopefully this is the end of it.
