And, from what I read, he threw the change up 3-4 times in a row against the batter that took him deep to end the game. The one that got hit out missed it's spot, setup on the lower outside corner, leaked to the lower inner 3rd of the plate.
Having briefly hit our stride we have lost 3 of the last 4 games to vastly inferior opponents. Time to suck it up, have a team meeting go out to Oakland and sweep the series. Even if we split or win 3 of 4 all will be well. No rest for the weary. We do not even have a day off the following Monday
Imagine what we could get in return for trading the whole team away. Although, I'm not sure any players would want to play for us if we did something like that.... but we sure could rebuild quickly with all the top prospects we would get in return from the win now teams!
You can almost feel when it is going to happen. I expected 4-2 against the Orioles and White Sox, but 3-3 doesn't mean that the sky is falling. It is extremely hard to win more than 60% of the games you play.
This would be a pretty fascinating thought exercise to see if the Astros could collect all the top under 23 yr old players in baseball or something like that.
A hypothetical is one thing where you give thought to something that has a very remote possibility of happening. This has no chance what so ever. Zero. Zip. So no, I am not going to imagine that.
What would the Astros get from a team for Yordan Alvarez? All those years of control for a guy hitting 340 with power.... What does a 25 year old Alex Bregman get you when he is under team control for 5 more seasons? What does Greinke and Verlander get you if the Astros ate their salary? Pressly and Springer? The Astros would have to make the deals over like a 12 month span, but they would get a glut of players...... especially if the Astros committed on losing 100 games a year for a few years......... target some of the younger international prospects that may not be ready for 3-4 years, and then add high draft picks for that 3-4 year span. Obviously the Astros wouldn't do that, but it would be interesting. Theoretically the Astros could end up with close to 20 of the top 50 prospects in baseball.
Hey the Rangers have had the best farm system like 5 times in the last 25 years, that has to account for something.
Talk about two gut wrenching losses, the one against the Orioles where Osuna gave up the home run. And yesterday’s where Presley gave up the Grand Slam. But this is a reminder for the guys, there isn’t any reinforcements coming in. These are the horses that the team is all in on. Hopefully the bullpen guys hunker down and fix the approach. They are Uber talented, they have the arsenal, they just have to continue to execute their pitches.
August 14, 2019 - AP "The Houston Astros have traded infielders Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa and outfielder Yordan Alvarez for 12 year old super prospect Stalin Lenin Perez of the Dominican Republic. Perez is considered the best 12 year old prospect since Cap Anson, and scouts rave about his bloodlines as he is the product of a Moises Alou and Ugeth Urbina Eiffel Tower sexual encounter with Antonio Alfonseca's cousin. Perez is currently 4'7" and 85 pounds but projects as having plus power and a strong arm. Scouts say even though he has never worn a glove before, he should progress quickly. Astros coach Troy Snitker is expected to adopt Perez and enroll him in a Houston area elementary school. Astros GM Jeff Luhnow preached patience, "Right now Stalin is learning how to wear shoes. We are in this for the long haul."
Get a new farm system while they are at it. Kyle Tucker still isn't good enough to make the majors... what a crap show! Seriously some fans can forget everything in 2 games. Baseball is a 162 season usually. The Astros are winning most likely 100 games for the third year in a row and favorites to win the AL pennant. These fans would have jumped of the ship channel bridge in early October 1980 when the Astros had the best record in the NL and a three game lead on the Dodgers. The Astros went to LA for the final series lost the first game 3-2 in 10 innings. Lost next middle game 2-1 and in game 162 up 3-1 after the 6th inning the pen gave up the lead and gave the Dodgers the series with a 4-3 win and forced a single elimination game for the West title. Spoiler alert Joe Niekro pitched a complete game and won his 20th game in the 7-1 win to go across county to face Steve Carlton in Philly the next day. Chicago series in August... please, players have bad outings, bad series, bad months even. Enjoy the .645 winning percentage, it's more fun than the sky is a falling.
Hey Roberto Osuna is the Youngest to have so many Saves in MLB History, but hey he is a scrub, by Astro fans eyes.
