Mbappe had already been playing a whole season for PSG when Bale won em that CL final, he was on that shady 1yr loan+buy-clause deal, so maybe you got the dates wrong.
Appreciate the correction. That means Zidane resigned partly because Florentino refused to fulfill a rumored promise to sell Bale. A decision likely motivated by his performance against Liverpool. Nothing to do with Mbappe. However, that makes choosing Bale over Mbappe the prior season even worse. That was after an injury plagued season for Bale and Madrid still won La Liga and the CL. I am now doubting my memory, but I believe that Madrid and Monaco had agreed on a fee equal to or greater than what PSG paid. Mbappe decided on PSG because he wanted a guaranteed spot and the only one available on the BBC was Bale's.
Nothing to add, praying we come up with some bangers in the upcoming weeks (Sane, Roca, Ziyech/Olmo?)
BILD now saying he's possibly out for half of the season, I immediately felt the same when seeing his injury live. Seriously **** Pep for playing him when the transfer was nearly done, what a shitty thing to do.
How does playing him a half equal an automatic injury? (wish a speedy recovery for the player) Bayern already had bad luck with transfers like Renato Sanches and didn’t open the wallet for big stars in years. Now all of the sudden they are willing to pay 100 of millions, suspect transfer policy if you will. Of course some of the fan base ain’t happy. Better late than never though.
It doesn't, but why would you start the guy when you are in advanced negotiations for a 120-150mil transfer (not including salaries)? Just shitty behaviour and you don't usually see this. It wasn't even an important event, just one of the thousand English cups.
Real also played Bale in exhibition games when his agent was in knee deep negotiations with Suning. Sure Bale isn’t young anymore, it is what is. Pep surely dun care about his Ex Bayern no more. But it is said that City management still harbor good feelings towards Bayern.
Sideshow Bob (David Luiz) to Arsenal, along with Kieran Tierney from Celtic. My good friend, who sadly is a big Arsenal fan, is not happy. Lukaku to Inter is official. (HOORAY! is the general feeling from us United fans...and for $90million?!). No one coming in to replace him. I'm guessing this means that Mason Greenwood is going to get a chance to play this season. He looked fantastic this summer.
Btw good reminder that we needlessly loaned out the Korean winger kid and Friedl at the very beginning of the transfer period, although we had zero backups for those positions at that point. This front office really dropped the ball these past few seasons, none of the decisions make any sense.
