Morey just can't let T. Jones go. In a dream world, T. Jones reaches his potential and is an ideal backup big for the rockets, a Black Griffin light. Problem is, even in that case he's still a poor defender. Then, it's still pretty unlikely he has reached that potential in a year.
Westbrook has the 10th highest playoff plus minus in the history of basketball, a hair behind Larry Bird. His 2017 season was the 7th best plus/minus ever seen in the playoffs. He was a plus 13.08. Outright bad? How about outright biased?
rather sign someone who’s younger with upside or any euro vet out there...bloated stats with no competition at the PBA..still a wannabe thug stomper
I don't want him back. We know what he is at this stage. I would rather take a risk on an unknown player.

Still only 27 years old. Guys wash out of the NBA and sometimes come back better players. See PJ Tucker. I wouldn't just automatically rule out the fact that he's improved. People are so dismissive because of his fall, but he was already a statistically solid rotation level player his 2nd and 3rd years here and that was when he was being relied upon to be a starter which he won't be on this team. He obviously cares about basketball. He is pretty much lacing his sneakers up and playing any and everywhere he can to try to make it back to the NBA. That says something. Give the man a chance to play in this system and see what he can do. No harm in that. If he sucks, you've lost nothing, but if he thrives in D'Antoni's system you have a 6'9 250 pound PF/C with enough athleticism to get out on the break and run with Westbrook, catch lobs, skill to handle the ball, and even knock down a 3 pointer here and there. There was not a single player on the roster last year at his size with his skillset. I hope either he or Bennett can come in and give us a skilled big man with athleticism.
Probably got tired of eating at KFC in China. I think that's where they all eat instead of Beijing Duck or roasted pork
"Getting there is one thing. A Euro- or G-League résumé is good; an NBA pedigree is better; a Chinese agent is mandatory. Thriving there is an entirely different proposition. From frequent travel disruptions to subpar team medical care to a dearth of Western food (beyond fast-food chains like KFC), players accustomed to cushy NBA amenities are tested daily." https://www.si.com/nba/2019/06/27/c...mer-fredette-shabazz-muhammad-stephon-marbury
Looks like Ty Lawson does not like Cow Tongue. I had BBQ cow tongue in Osaka and Tokyo from a street vendor and it was hella good. hella good and expensive too. I mean, there teammates are treating them to some prime Shllllllllllllt over there like Cow Tongue and they eat FRIED FREAKING RICE instead. That's like going to Paris and being Foie grais and think they are trying to trick you. Foie grais sucks by the way, just had it while in Paris. " There was that time Lawson refused to practice because a road arena had no heat. Before the Shanxi game he did his morning shootaround in Sambas and Marvin the Martian socks because the team's luggage had been lost. But, spirits be damned, Lawson has fit in well. In the spring of 2018 he steered Shandong to the CBA semis, nailing a buzzer beater to win Game 6 before falling to Liaoning; and he developed a friendship with teammate Ding Yanyuhang, who spent 2018--19 in the Mavericks' organization. "One time we went to this barbecue spot," Lawson says. "He tricked me into eating cow tongue. I was so mad." Ducking into a hibachi restaurant with his manager/roommate Nick Watkins, Lawson this time passes on the fried beef tongue (and the "secret cheese sweet potatoes," and the "comprehensive seafood Osaka fever" ...), settling instead for chicken and fried rice. As the grill sizzles, the old friends reflect on their early days in China. "It was a struggle," Lawson says. "Second year," Watkins replies, "you know what to expect." This inspires an idea in Lawson: "They need to have an American package: Here's your SIM card, your VPN. Some salt and pepper, some hot sauce to spice up your food. What else?" Detergent, no doubt. After his first game in China, Lawson stripped off his jersey and wondered aloud where to toss the laundry. From across the locker room a teammate chucked a bar of soap at him and howled, in English, "Wash your own s---!" "Those types of moments, you miss the NBA," says Lawson. The rise of two-way contracts back home has largely squeezed out a veteran middle class in favor of younger, cheaper talent, but Lawson rejects the notion that he landed here because he'd lost a step. "It wasn't about skill," he says. "It was about perception." By this he's referring to the "perception" of four DUI arrests, most recently in 2015, that left NBA teams leery about assuming further risk. "Don't want to get into it," he says, scooping up a bit of fried rice. "Pretty sure they're forgetting."
I’d be glad to have him back. I can pull out the old jersey. Hope he does well and sticks in the NBA again.
I'll bet TJ can't wait to get back to the NBA https://news.yahoo.com/basketball-player-arwind-santos-refuses-012010999.html Professional basketball player Arwind Santos has refused to apologize to an African-American opponent he taunted by mimicking an ape last night during a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) finals game at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. Numerous fans saw Santos, a veteran forward of the San Miguel Beer team, making the gestures while standing near the bench with his teammates. The ugly act was directed at Terrence Jones, an import for opposing team TNT KaTropa and a former Houston Rockets player, and was made with about a minute left in the second quarter of the game, reported Manila Bulletin.
