Apparently, the Clippers made a bid to get Harden as the superstar to lure Kawhi. Morey shot them down, though. Article in TheScore.com: The Los Angeles Clippers may have tried to pair the Beard with the Claw. As the Clippers attempted to land a second superstar in hopes of convincing Kawhi Leonard to join them in free agency, they asked the Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards about the availability of James Harden and Bradley Beal, respectively, sources told The Athletic's Jovan Buha, Sam Amick, and Shams Charania. The Clippers, however, were reportedly told that the players weren't on the table. Los Angeles later opened discussions with the Oklahoma City Thunder after reportedly discovering that Leonard had been recruiting Paul George and persuading the swingman to formally request a trade. Harden's future in Houston seemed up in the air until the team's blockbuster acquisition of Russell Westbrook from Oklahoma City. When tensions between Harden and then-teammate Chris Paul were said to be "unsalvageable" in mid-June, Harden apparently issued the front office a "him or me" ultimatum, suggesting the team had to part with one of them. Harden has since publicly denied the supposed rift, but approximately three weeks after the conflict was reported, the Rockets shipped Paul to the Thunder for Westbrook.
Jerry West and Kawhii are helluva great recruiting duo! Would have been surprised if they didn't ask around.
Hahaha unless you offer what? 10 first picks and what? Jerry west knows how great harden is but they had nothing that would even come close to being of interest
it would require the greatest haul in NBA history for the Rockets to even begin to think about doing something so stupid...Rockets kept that convo real short
LOLWhut? His future in Houston seemed up in the air?! Yeah, sure. Not that Morey in a million years would trade him, but what would be the minimum haul to make Morey go, "Hmmm?"
I guess they would offer a package similar to PG’s, with 5 FRP plus players, maybe adding Beverley or Harrell
a young, All-Star caliber player still on his rookie deal (I’m talking healthy Porzingis level at the very least), expirings or serviceable players on good deals that can easily be moved for assets in order to match Harden’s salary in the trade, and every 1st round pick u got available unprotected
Off course the clippers and pretty much any team on the planet would be interested in the most prolific scorer of the last 20 odd years but having the assets to acquire such a player is another thing
