I understand your feelings about this and especially when you see how freaking cheap it took to get him. Health and pitching is all we need at the moment. We can't have both Reddick and Yuli going cold come payoff time. I do hope we can add a bat but pitching is still the priority unless we lose a player for the year.
Sure another ace is the priority. But if you can literally gobble up the AL HR leader, at the closest thing we have to a position of need, for literal **** you should go ahead and do that. Every damn day.
Even worse, it's to the Yankees. They're already stacked even with injuries. And I hate their spoiled fanbase that feels so entitled. They're like "oh no, the 2010's will be the first decade since the 80's without a Yankees WS win). There are THIRTY teams in MLB, they all want to win, and being the Yankees doesn't make them any more entitled to win than anybody else.
For sure man. I've been talking about going after him for a while and so has @HTown2017Champs. We all knew he was going to be cheap too
There's a human element that has to be accounted for. Yuli is beloved in that locker room. I just don't think Luhnow is all that interested in trading off one of the regular 25. And honestly, he doesn't have to.
I dont know who wants to trade Yuli yet. I just want another option to split time there. Yuli can switch to 3rd and have Alex at SS. Correa probably won't be healthy enough until August. Having White at first sucks
Yep. Alexander the Great is a better defender at SS (his natural position) than 3B. Yuli is more than fine at 3B for the next 5 or so weeks. Encarnacion at 1st would have really nice. He's still doing fine there defensively. I thought the M's were showcasing his defensive ability to get NL teams interested and up his value, but, well it is what it is.
I get all that. That’s why I said I suppose chemistry matters and then blah blah blah. These guys aren’t robots. I think Encarnacion is probably a dick. I get all that.
I was literally thinking this when I read your post. Would not surprise me in the least if a couple of the Mets pitchers are on the Astros radar.
I think the type of pitcher Houston adds will give some indication on what Houston thinks of their chances of resigning Cole. If they add a rental or a player still on pre-arb salaries, I think that would tell us they might make a run at Cole. If they add a player on a significant salary, it would mean Cole is gone.
His hitting has more than just dipped. Playing everyday seems to have reverted him back to what he has consistently been for this team which is ok because he’s still invaluable
I’d still take Houston’s lineup over the Yankees’, with everybody healthy: C Chirinos / Sanchez push 1B Gurriel / Voit Yankees 2B Altuve / Torres push SS Correa / Gregorius push 3B Bregman / LeMahieu Astros RF Reddick / Judge Yankees CF Springer / Hicks Astros LF Brantley / Stanton push DH Alvarez / Encarnacion push Bench: UT Diaz / Urshela push C Stassi / Romine Astros OF Marisnick / Gardner push
Why do you think it's a given that the Mariners would want Yuli? Also, perhaps the Mariners didn't want to trade him inside the division.
