Here's Fangraphs on Corbin Martin following his debut: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/corbin-martin-major-leaguer/
De Goti pitched a scoreless 9th! RR gave up 9 runs with 2 outs in the 7th. Taylor Jones dropped a sac fly that opened the floodgates. Armenteros, Garza and McCurry got drilled Ferguson blasted a GS to CF into the teeth of a strong wind. Straw made a couple of nice plays on the move with the glove, his throwing motion is best described as awkward Yordan 3-5 with 2 2B and a single all to LF, played 1B and looked comfortable on throws and fielded a routine grounder and popup. Footwork needs work, naturally. eta: Armenteros is a classic AAAA pitcher, RH with no velocity but good breaking balls. He's taking up space at RR is all. I keep waiting for McCurry to really show something, but alas.
Also, Drew Ferguson, who was apparently deemed not good enough to be on the Giants, hit a grand slam. OKC scored 11 in the 7th, though.
Really nice to hear Mike Capps voice again. He is a fantastic play-by-play guy and I really hoped the Astros would hire him before they hired Ford and Sparks.
Osvaldo Duarte is 3-3 with a double and a triple tonight. His OPS is up to 884. Getting really excited about him, Toro, and McCormick in Corpus. They all have the stats of future everyday big leaguers.
Yeah I’ve thought the same, the lineup could possibly be improved which is crazy. That said, where is there room for him at this point? He could replace White, but who backs up Gurriel? Diaz? Maybe. Also, you’d have to trade White. Good problem to have though.
Enmanuel Valdez is currently 3-5 for Quad Cities. His latest hit was a three-run home run, his third of the year.
He played the last 2 innings at 1B in the KC game we were trailing 12-2 and Tyler White pitched the 9th. I reaaaaaly wouldn't read too much into that.
