I'm just curious where this data comes from. I'd like to be able to look more in depth at the types of shots Harden and others are taking, but I didn't know where to find detailed data that would indicate stuff like whether a three was a stepback contested shot vs an open catch and shoot or what. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.
Harden always shoots like garbage from the 3 going into the playoffs every year. It costed him the MVP vs Westbrook and it might cost him again this year vs Giannis. Hopefully he finds his 3pt shot in the playoffs unlike last year vs the Warriors.
James Harden is an idiot.... keeps chunking with Loony and Curry on him.... this guy needs to get a clue already..... just plain stupid basketball on his end lately. Also, too little down there today.. got killed on the boards and inside.... Farid played like a little whimp today.
someone has got to tell him to cool it. do we really expect him to hit a high clip in PLAYOFF basketball ? that kind of thing is not going to win a title, sorry
Stupid thread - please shut down. The guy has carried the team throughout a whole season and his stepback 3 is credited the "modern version of sky hook". He shot down the Warriors in the home court doing exactly the same thing. What else or who else do you want to go to down the stretch? Sure, he needs a break-through in the playoffs to get it done. But questioning a guy after a narrow loss to the best team in the NBA is just stupid.
He has a history of going into a shooting slump that carries over to the playoffs after the ASB. It's a worrying sign given the history .
Let's hope that doesn't happen this year. Cut this guy some slack. He is coming off a historically heavy workload and a shoulder injury. But starting a thread and claiming "rarely see him make any" is completely unncessary overreaction.
Fatigue. Same reason we missed so many shots in a row against the Warriors in the WCF. Same reason Mike's teams always start strong then fizzle out. Tired of his BS "what's 2 minutes if we don't practice" argument. His team's legs are always more tired than the opponent's team's legs. You have to do something fundamentally different to achieve different results. If your team believes in FT's and 3PT shots so much, you are more affected by fatigue than other teams. At least we have the depth now if he'll use it.
It's painful to watch James dribble for 20 secs and chuck up 3s one after another. Might be wrong but I feel with the style he plays and the inefficiency recently, these would hurt the morale of the team. If you are making all the shots but at a rather low percentage. Even if eventually one shoot falls, your teammates still won't feel involved or hyped; While if it bricks again & again, they must be very frustrated running up and down the court doing nothing. James got to play smarter. He has more than one weapon.
Harden is worn out from having to carry an insane burden to carry this team out of the hole they dug themselves to start the season, and now his wrist isn’t right December: 40% usage January: 46% usage February: 41% usage sorry, but that’s not normal, and is too much for 1 guy to do for an entire season, especially when 90% of his points are off isolation/creating for himself...oh, and I forgot to mention he’s also 2nd in the NBA in mpg his usage rate is the 2nd highest of all time behind 16-17 Westbrook...Westbrook has a higher motor than James, but we all saw how he faded in every 4th quarter in that 1st round series against us
Yes pass it on like cp3 17 assist please and stop dribbling for 22 sec and jacking up when you dont have the energy or juice. Especially with a player in your grill, still force jack step back 3 Be a damn playmaker and trust in your teammates for once. Other 4 players are just standing around without activity. Its like stevie and shemac again. Smhhhh
Injured wrist his shot is flat he needs to sit down somewhere for a few games but he wont and he will regret it in the playoffs.. but whatever.
Not resting is a huge factor in his slumps. Sometimes i feel like he gets so caught up in season awards. Just rest when youre hurt or tired. The second factor is people are studying him and trying to learn how to guard him. They focus solely on taking away his inside game and perimeter game. Naturally, he needs to drive more to get them to sag off a little on the perimeter so he has more time and space to shoot, but he also needs to establish a mid range game so that his drives can be more successful. Notice how every time he slumps we see his mid range game vanish out side lf the recently added floater.
stats.nba.com has a very good amount of data including the step back three stats: https://stats.nba.com/player/201935/shooting/
Lack of a mid range game is why harden struggles against teams that are focused defensively and why chris paul becomes the better playmaker. Cp has no holes in his game. Harden has to continue to work on right handed drives and finishes around the basket, mid range game, and ball handling/floater drills until he masters them. Otherwise we will continue to see teams focused and prepped defensively to take out the major parts of hardens game be successful.
When someone is playing you tight at the three-point line and trying to stay in front of you until you get to the basket, the snatch back(bw the legs) into a mid range jumpshot is probably the most successful go to move. There are other ones, but we need to see this move added back to hardens game and he will be truly unstoppable. He did it to klay in the playoffs before and it worked like 5x in a row.
People refused to appreciate, people barely even recognized the god-mode he was in for months on end. People lamented him doing it, that was about all the recognition they could muster. Now, as if they deserved him and that performance that you'll likely never see again in the first place, people are complaining that he is in fact human. My suggestion to you is next time you get to watch greatness happening before your very eyes, stfu and appreciate it.
