The rockets were historically good last year, have a historically good player (of all time) this season but forget "winning now". Way to do right by inheriting a 65 win team dude!!! ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░██▓░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░▓███▒░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░▓█████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░███████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░▓████████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░██████████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░▒██████████▓░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░███████████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░▓███████████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░▒█████████████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░▒██████████████▓▒░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░██████████████████░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░▒███████████████████░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░▓███████████████████▒░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░▓███▓▓█████████▓▓███▒░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░██░░░░███████▒░░░▓█░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░▓██░░██░░█████▒░██▓░██▒░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░███▓░████░▓████░▓███░▒███░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░▓███▒░████░▓████░████▒░███▒░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░████▒░████░▓████░████░░████░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░████▓░████░█████░▒███░░████░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░█████░░██░░█████▒░██░░█████░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░██████░░░░▓██████░░░░▒█████░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░███████▒▒█████████▓▒██████▓░░░░░░ ░░░░░▓█████████████████████████████▓░░░░ ░░░░█████████████████████████████████░░░ ░░░▒███████████░░░▒▒▒▒▒░░░▓██████████▒░░ ░░░████████████▓░░░░░░░░░▓████████████░░ ░░░██████████████▒░░░░░▒██████████████░░ ░░░███████████████████████████████████░░ ░░░██████████████████████████████████▒░░ ░░░▒█████████████████████████████████░░░ ░░░░▓██████████████████████████████▒░░░░ ░░░░░░▓███▒░░░░░░▒▓▓███████████▓▒░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░
Can OP list out the players that were added/removed this season and explain how they would help us win a championship.
They still win 50 ish. Got nothing to do with the record. Basically the future looks bleak. There is no vision in that.
If reports are true that before the deadline, Harden was demanding that Morey 'get him some help' and this (Shumpert, Faried, and one hell of a tax savings) was the "help" that Morey got him, would you be surprised if James started asking about being traded next year? That'd be one way to get out of the luxury tax, I suppose.
you mean guys harden asked for and wanted? that would make a ton of sense he would ask to be traded huh
Tbf, Tilman just spent 2 billion dollars buying the Rockets. If i just spent 2bil on a franchise and im expected to the lux tax year after year, I wouldn't do it either unless my team is like the Warriors with 5 all-nba players and the clear favorites to win it all again. the only mistake Tilman did was not negotiating with Cp3 for a big paycut like KD took so we can add another good player to this team. None of the championship teams in the last decade were built with the star players all taking the max salary. It just doesn't happen when the league is so competitive. If you want to win nowadays, you have to sacrifice a big chunk of your money.
Essentially we have just traded Ennis for Shumpert, freed up 3 slots for the buyout market, and people are freaking out?
Since the 1979-1880 season, there have been 62 seasons of 60+ wins, and 34 of those teams did NOT have consecutive 60 wins seasons. Since the 1999-2000 season, there have been 28 seasons of 60+ wins, and 17 of those teams did NOT have consecutive 60 wins seasons. So basically just because the team was historically good one season, does not mean it is supposed to succeed the next season. More than half the time, the team doesn't match their prior success.
i just hope that when the time does come when harden leaves bc management couldnt get him help that we're heavily compensated like these AD offers
Wait, but I've been reading here at CF that Paul's salary didn't really matter, since we were capped out anyway whether he took 30 a year or 40, and if we disagreed with that, we didn't know basketball or the NBA? Did someone hold a gun to Fertitta's head to buy the team? The man's ostensibly a successful businessman. He didn't do the minimum of due diligence before buying the team? Like figuring out what the team's assets and liabilities were, both current and contingent? CP3's deal shouldn't have been a surprise. Nor should salary projections for at least the first two or three years, along with projected P&L statements and cash flows. Even if he didn't do this, anyone he was hitting up for money to buy the team damn well did. The point is, none of this should have been a surprise, and therefore the inference that is looking more and more likely by the day, is that Fertitta never had the intention of spending enough money to be truly competitive during Harden's prime. Which is a damned shame.
Oh, I'm sure the 'help' he was asking for, at the time he was asking for it, was Shumpert and Faried. Totally. Exactly the guys he was thinking of. This isn't to denigrate, too much, the contributions of Faried, and I'm sure, Shumpert's as well. I've like watching Manimal's energy on the court so far. It's just they're role players, and, ideally, not starters. To quote the oft-stated cliche here at CF, neither guy is going to be 'the guy that helps you beat the Warriors.' I think Harden probably was asking for one of those instead.
yeah im sure your assumption is just right on point. harden definitely meant get me AD because he has absolutely no idea what's plausible and what isn't another one of these puzzling logics that floats around cf's. you want to diminish guys like the faried's, the shumpert's and use the these guys don't ehelp you beat the warriors. Then you go right on to go on and on about another role player, unproven at that in house. oh the consistency. gotta love it
