How does Oubre fit on this team? I don't watch very many non Rockets games so I know very little about him, but from a quick look at his stats he seems to be a poor defender and a poor 3 point shooter? Would like to see an explanation from someone who thinks he is a good fit here.
He would basically be Prime Ariza 2.0 if we brought him to Houston. Solid defender, with a great corner 3 point shot, that lacks a quick first step and playmaking ability. Sounds like someone this team could integrate into the starting 5 with ease.
It would cost us Gordon, picks, and prospects to get either. Otto would be great here and would cost less, especially by allowing Ennis to come off the bench.
Honestly Beal, Porter and Oubre would all help out this team tremedously. Factoring the Pros and Cons of each would be something like: Factors 3 point shooting: Beal (overall, believe OP is shooting it better this year) Create own shot : Beal Defense: Porter Fit: Porter Age: Oubre Salary: Oubre I’d like to keep Gordon so i know that’s also a factor that goes against Beal, I would like to snatch Markieff in any deal for either of those 3.
He could play the 2 and we move harden to the 3. OR vice versa.... Capela Tucker Beal Harden Paul Gordon Green IH Rockets will not have picks in 2019-2021-and 2023.
Oubre isn't a good shooter. He plays with a lot of energy so easy to like. I don't get the fascination with him. I mean I get why WAS fans like him so much when the team has such a malaise, but from an outsider's perspective he's not our type of player. Personally I don't want anymore below average shooters.
CP is also just a better player. Wall isnt the same guy he was even just 3 years ago athletically and hes a bad shooter and not necessarily a high IQ player. Wall is going to have the worst contract in the NBA in 2 years, not CP.
Wall is regressing athletically and he has no shot to alleviate his falling athleticism. Hes probably going to have the worst contract in the league in a few years.
This. I also dont want anymore below average defenders. Defensive ability is exactly why Gary Clark was able to steal Melo's minutes and ultimately his roster spot. Gary Clark doesnt even need to shoot half as much as Melo and hes more than double the asset on the court Melo is. Just shows you how important being a good defender is.
Of course you do. The Rockets have, at most, a 2 year window with Chris Paul. Porter would be a fantastic fit for Houston.
I think we need to let Ennis and Clark integrate themselves more into our team before we decide to take on really bad contracts like Porters. These guys are still improving and learning their place.
Zach Lowe said the Rockets final offer for Butler was Gordon and two first rounders. I'm guessing Porter will at least cost 2 firsts.
