Beto missed too many opportunities to insult Cruz. Most voters don't know the issues, but they like the insults. The mudslinging gives the illusion of strength. Don't let these people/voters tell you they don't like the current political climate; more people are involved in politics now because of how disgusting it has become. Democrats have this stupid need to rise above and be civil, but that stuff does not work. Make fun, insult, dismiss, fight back, make outrageous claims, then you can work on giving everyone health care. Beto is annoying me with his need to be the wholesome cool guy.

The issues are also rather complex and can be debated. What can't be debated are simple insults, that stuff sticks. "What kind of man bows before a man who insulted his wife, his family?" Thing with insults like this, is you can mix this in with talking about the issues, doesn't have to be exclusive. I'd like for Beto to be right, but Democrats do not win being nice, one day it'd be nice if they got that.
