If that series goes to 5 it becomes unlikely to have to face sale twice, right? He wouldn’t pitch till game 3?

I do believe in matchups not being a fluke. We’ve struggled against severino and Tanaka and the Yankees bullpen will make anyone struggle.

Boston had the better Team most of the season but who’s a better team right now?

Dayumn Boston just made NY its little bi*ch in NY.

Hope NY responds with some passion and they end up battlefighting. NY bullpen taxed af. Position players pitching.

I love seeing the Yanks get blasted. Loathe that team.

But think of the amazing feeling if we knock the Yankees out of the playoffs. Again.

It might depend on whether or not Severino knows what time the game starts.

I rather play the Red Sox because the Sox's rotation has some issues right now. Sale isn't the same and has been shaky with a decrease in velocity. Price hasn't proved he can win in the post season once again. Their bullpen is not good, I don't see who they have besides Kimbrel that can come in and get guys out. Oh the other hand the Yankees have solid starters in Severino even though he was shaky yesterday, Tanaka, Happ and CC. Plus a very solid bullpen.

Red Sox, Astros are assassins on the road. Is a sweep possible? Probably not, though the Astros are in beast mode.

Not worried too much about who we're going to face since it's out of our control. I'm just happy that the sweep gives us time to reset our rotation, and hopefully whoever wins the series will come in with their #4 starter pitching the first game :D

Depends when the series ends. Too much rest isn't always a good thing either.

Honestly, I don't mind either way. Boston's pitching scares me, but NYY hitting scares me as well. If you tell me Judge and Scary Gary are going to be strikeout machines like last year's ALCS, give me the yanks.

Good point. If we play yanks, means they just came off two back-to-back emotional wins and would have closed out a game 5 at Fenway. That momentum would scare me a bit, so I'll change my vote to the Sox now.

Yankees were down 2-0 last year in the Division Series to the Indians. They had to win 3 in a row including game 5 in Cleveland.

They also had a comeback victory against the Twins in the wild card.

If you want to advance to the world series, the Red Sox are the best matchup.

The young Sox still remember who dominated them last year in the ALDS.

They looked over matched when the Astros played them in the last series.

    Baseball is a mental game.

I don't think Cora can beat AJ in a series.

people keep referencing that but it doesn't really have much bearing once you hit october. that team is more complete to give hou a whole lot more trouble than NY. not sure how there's people that prefer to play against a deep boston lineup full of hitters and hitting well now, compared to NY and their lack of depth

Astros do a lot of their scoring later in the games. The Yankees have a much better pen than the Sox.

In a series vs. the Yankees we are going to want to get to their starter before they go to their pen. Versus the Sox we will be wanting to drive up pitch counts to get to their pen early.
