[HBO TV] True Detective Season 3

It's ok to be wrong.

 

That's not really fair... Why would you judge something by reading it when it's intended to be watched?

That's like giving someone the sheet music to a song and having them evaluate it without actually hearing it.

 

You'd probably have a better time of re-visiting the dialogue of Season 1 through the various parodies you'll find on YouTube. Not the exact dialogue, mind you, but McConaughey's looped-out lines....pretty good.

I didn't find the dialogue cringeworthy. Perhaps....slightly affected, perhaps?

Season 2 was on a space station of suck, however, as far as the dialogue. I was watching the first episode and thought, "Well, okay, there's that," when Rachel McAdams' Grade-A buns walked by (albeit in her underwear); but when one of VV's underlings was trying to tell VV not to fear a recent incident, that "they can't touch you," and VV's wife Kelly Somebody-or-Other admonishes, "Everybody gets touched"....?

I came back to the show time and again and it improved here and there but it was a major letdown.

 

Meh...

I guess I'm somewhat optimistic? Season 2 was so unfathomably dumb, you'd think they'd learn from that mistake.

 

I'll give it a shot, although I gave up on season 2 in 2 episodes.

 

Woody Harrelson, Monaghan and Mcconaughey were all amazing casts and played their roles to perfection.

Season 2 was an island of misfit toys outside of Farrell.

Hopefully season 3 doesn't give us....ugh.....blue balls of the heart.

 

I don't think Laurence Olivier could deliver the line "Its like blue balls... in my heart" with any sort of real panache.

 

Same here. And the first season is my favorite single season of any tv show ever. Breaking Bad and Seinfeld being tops as a whole.

 

I'm in. I'll always be in. S1 was that good.

So is season 2 worth watching? I watched one episode and stopped.

 

I thought it was ambitious but seems like the rushed timeline really hurt the quality of the writing and execution. There’s some good stuff in it though and I enjoyed Collin Ferrell quite a bit as well.

I wouldn’t go out of your way to make it event watching or anything but if you are bored I think it’s a decent watch. Just don’t think about how great season 1 was.

 

Took them 3 years. Hopefully they bounce back.

 

Nic Pizzolatto is much more involved in this season than he was in the 2nd. I think he wrote all the episode for season 3, I could be wrong....either way looking forward to something closer to season 1.

Nope. Collin Ferrell was the only interesting part. Everything else was terrible.
