Well, signing Noel doesn’t means we let Capela go, you can test Noel out for the whole season, if he shows he can be Capela, we can put CC on the market to upgrade the team in the mid season. Noel signed minimum with OKC. I really don’t see the downside about it.
If Noel balled here that would also diminish Capela's value, lulz. People would realize it's all system + Harden PnR.
That'd still be valuable info to have though... would make moving Capela an easier decision, though you'd get less back for him... If his point is, why not try it for a vet minimum deal... hard to argue that point I think. just opportunity cost of roster spot and another option perhaps being better.
The sunset ones already realize that. Noel is actually more talented that Capela. But he is a bozo off the court. Capela wins the character trait 100-0.
Suns cap room situation per Marks... "Phoenix is now $3.2M below the cap after acquiring the $7.4M Darrell Arthur expiring contract. The room will increase once Arthur is likely bought out of his contract. The veteran has 10 years of service and his minimum exception with a new team would be $2.4M. The Suns will also have a Friday July 20th decision to guarantee the $1.4M contract of Davon Reed. The former second round pick currently has $689 guaranteed. Phoenix also has flexibility with the $1.4M non-guaranteed contract of Shaquille Harrison." - Bobby Marks, ESPN
My guess is Murray said, “You want more? We’ve got the off-season so show me another post move and improved free throw shooting before camp and it is yours.”
Yeah, first off, that's not how Morey does business... at all. Second, I don't think Capela is the kind of guy you need to give an ultimatum to for him to work hard at getting better.
