Sad sad day...... feel for his teenage daughter. Hit even harder when the Parts Unknown ad came up right after they talked about his death... RIP RIP
Not everyone liked him. I REALLY did. I credit him—as much as clutchfans—for softening my once somewhat right leaning world view.
RIP What's going on? Just saw the CDC report a few days ago that suicides are up 30% from 20 years ago.
I wonder if it could be meds. Several years ago GSK had a few lawsuits against them for a Parkinson's drug that impaired judgement for some people. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...-drug-that-turned-him-into-a-gay-8368600.html
I kept trying to make sense of this statement, thinking he had taken his life because he was in love with his teenage daughter. Might want to edit "fell" to "feel". But in all seriousness, this registers pretty highly on my "sad about the death of someone I've never met" meter. Partly because it was self-inflicted, which means he was probably suffering silently for quite some time. He was a big influence in my decision to finally go out and see the world for the first time in my 30's, and to try things I otherwise never would have. It changed my life, and I am forever grateful to him for that.
Mental illness is real. It’s likely behind 99% of suicides and also the cause of the recent increase in mass shootings. Unfortunately there is a stigma behind mental illness and it often goes untreated until it’s far too late.
RIP But why? He had so much going for him. All his shows, from Travel Channel all the way to CNN, were excellent. Just can't believe that behind his eyes with all this going for him, he was hurting this much This guy really inspired me. He made me want to get to know people, the people we see everyday that pass us by all have a story to tell, and this guy brought those story's to us. Unbelievable, this is truly sad
Feel for his family and his friends. I'm A huge fan of his since he visited my native country in Laos (Very unknown) a few years back and the fact that he goes out of his way to treat people he visited with the utmost respect and humility even though he doesn't always agree with their social views or liked their food. Judging from what you've seen on his shows and not knowing him personally, you might have thought he was living a dream traveling the world and eating fine exotic foods. This is really sad.... How the heck did his best friend Eric Reipert not seeing the signs? They were always traveling together and they were very close from what I've seen on his shows.
Well he was a very hard drug user, the ugly H. So I am sure that's a big big part of it. Too sad...RIP..
