Every big New program from Good Morning America to 60 minutes needs to run this sting.

Guessing we won't expect the current U.S government to have any issues with what Cambridge Analytica did...

I've said this for a decade, maybe I'm actually right, but anyone who trusts Facebook with their personal info deserves to not have any personal info.

Trump won, Clinton lost. Can't bother with scandals about the loser.

So, let's add another one to the list of "who is to blame":
    • Obama (for not caring/campaigning enough)
    • Jame Comey (and his letter)
    • Suburban white women (for being white)
    • Men (and their egos)
    • Trump (his "scare" tactics)
    • Wikileaks (for being Russian)
    • Russia (for being Russian)
    • Cambridge Analytica (better data analysis)
EDIT: where is our resident statistician @Northside Storm when we need him?

The intriguing question is exactly how many friends does Roy Blunt have? Now if it was friend of Roy Blunt I would say that dude really stepped up.

That's a laugh. You worried about someone else's derangement. You're worried, all right. Worried about your hero, Mr. trump, getting caught. Odd that you aren't worried about your country nearly as much.

Totally agree. I've never had an interest in Facebook for exactly that reason. I have friends who have badgered me about joining for years. My response? "I enjoy my privacy. If you had any sense, so would you."

But if anyone took an interest, they could read 15+ years of posts from you on Clutchfans, do some research on the leads you've sprinkled here and there, and build a complete profile on you. How long before the big data companies scoop everything from this board, do some textual analysis on everything we write, identify who we all are, what we do, what we believe, and generate strategies to get us to buy or vote or fight as they like.

They started mining BBS forums, online games, etc. decades ago - if you have posted info online that data has been or will be used to complete your profile.

They could, but it's of an anonymous user. So although that might be useful for big data, it's not a loss of privacy for the actual individual, but for the user bbs alias.

And as this case is showing, FB system easily allow the lost of your privacy, even if you want to be private on it. It just take a friend linked to you to be less private to loss your privacy. FB knows this. They have encourage less privacy to grow and they have done little to protect user privacy.

Big data is the future and there is pro/cons to it. Set some guidelines to protect individuals to reduce the cons.

txtony answered pretty well for me (thanks, Tx!), so I'll just add that there is a difference from making an effort to retain some sort of anonymity, and just giving "them" "everything," soup to nuts. In my opinion, of course. Besides, friends I haven't seen in years look a hell of a lot better in the decades old photographs we have, then they look today. The same most assuredly applies to me. Besides, I can get any info I need about anyone from friends that Facebook. ;)

Yes, adoo, I'm not a "millennial." You guessed right! How did you know?:cool:;)
(We have kids that might qualify, though. I'm a Boomer and former hippie dude)
