    Just curious...

    What's the largest amount of money you've lost or wasted and how did you lose/waste it?

    For my entire senior year of HS I was getting a $985 check from the government each month. ($985 x 8 = $7,880). Blew it all. Still disappointed in myself.

    Wasted and lost are very different.

    I have been pretty good about not wasting money. I have bought vehicles that obviously depreciate.

    Money lost?

    I had a lot of money poured into Apple years ago, and I didn't realize that my brother had transferred into other investments until several years later. I lost hundreds of thousands of dollars; but I had forgotten the initial investment anyway. I had an opportunity to invest in several Houston restaurants that have become chains and that cost me a lot of money. However I also passed up lots of investment options that would have been terrible.

    Oh I guess the one that was the worst was I poured money into an estate in Spain and over 5 years he was worth almost nothing. That wasn't too bad because I got out in time.

    Spent a small fortune to fly to the game and watch my team play in the championship.

    I'm a Notre Dame fan. We played Alabama. I count that as wasted money :(

    $1500 in poker last year in Vegas.

    edit: actually, the $3k I dumped into a pharmaceutical stock a few years ago sitting at a return of -90% probably trumps that.

    I wasted my time and money on my ex gf for 3 years before I was smart enough to bail. So I guess that would count as a lost and waste haha

    $630 this past New Year's

    I invited someone on a date to a party I got two tickets to. I paid for her to get a dress, hair, and makeup only for to cancel on me after I got to the party.

    I think I'm going to "win" this topic unfortunately. I blew through approximately 100k over a 4 year period thanks to a serious addiction. It makes me sick thinking about it.

    Lost around $2K over a period of 4 weeks when I was on a client in Vegas. The next year I didn't gamble so much, even though I also wen to Atlantic City.

    Well, damn. Thats not a party drug. If true, I am extremely glad that you have overcome that addiction. **** opiates, heroin and all that.
