No other guy has benefited more off of the organization he used to play for and NFL Hard Knocks than Vrabel. People love guys who used to play under Bill Belichick and guys who act tough by cursing a lot towards players. I still don't know what he has accomplished as a coach to be getting this much love from the NFL.
Indianapolis Colts Indianapolis has narrowed its search to two candidates: Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel. The plan is to gather intel this weekend, meet, then proceed on Monday with either second interviews or simply by making a choice. McDaniels figures to be the front-runner, in part because if it was Vrabel the Colts would have made a move already. Based on the relationship between GM Chris Ballard and McDaniels, as well as McDaniels' prowess with the quarterback position, McDaniels has long been in the lead. The only issue is, the hire may not be made until early February. Detroit Lions Even before Jim Caldwell was fired, Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia appeared destined for this job. One of the carousel's hottest candidates, Patricia has a good relationship with GM Bob Quinn and is considered to be ready for a head job. In addition, Detroit would like to keep offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter for his work with QB Matt Stafford. Vrabel is the other candidate still alive here. The real question is, was there a shift with Patricia being more interested in the Giants job? While Patricia won't make a call until after his team is done playing, there has not been enough credible information to make one believe he'd pick the Giants over the Lions. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...nd-for-cardinals-colts-giants-lions-vacancies
Anyone else hope the Colts hire Vrabel? McDaniels with a healthy Luck could be dangerous.. And we can hand Romeo back the keys to the defense.
Looks like Matt Patricia to the Lions & Josh McDaniels to the Colts, so he could be staying put. (...unless he makes a lateral move to New England/elsewhere as their DC?)
So maybe he gets a job after all? McDaniels to Tennessee, Vrabel to Indy and the AFC South littered with ex-Patriots.
Mularky was 9-7 two years in a row and wins a playoff game and gets fired. Bob does the same and gets a 4 year extension.
That’s only if mcdaniels doesn’t go to the colts; TEN and IND are going to get in a bidding war for him
Right but per reports since Mularkey's firing, he prefers the Titans over Colts. (Again, TIFWIW because these same reporters said Mularkey was staying, ha)
If Watson regresses as much as Mariotta has, he will also be fired. Since Watson had one of the best rookie debuts ever... and it makes some sense to keep stability when the franchise QB is still developing, he's going to stay. This isn't that hard... the Texans are only going as far as Watson is going to take them.
How can it be officially off the board if no one has signed a contract? Patricia works for a guy who had a job with the Jets for like a few minutes.
Matt Patricia to the Lions ... Wait, Matt Patricia to the Giants ... Nope, he's actually going to Detroit. Mike Mularkey could be fired. ... Nope, he's staying. ... In fact, could get extension. ... Nope, they have parted ways. Josh McDaniels to the Colts ... Well actually, he prefers the Titans. ... He's going [back] to the Colts
