Does Otani play the field? I heard about him DHing and pitching. But could they really prop the corpse of Pooholes in the field? I’d pay to see that!!
Makes them a 90+ win team, IMO, if he's as good as advertised. They're already pretty close with a full season of Trout.
I find it hilarious that Dipoto made all those moves in an attempt to lure Ohtani to Seattle just to see him go to a division foe. The Mariners will be an average team once again and the Angels will probably be in the same boat (maybe slightly above average if Ohtani pans out well). Also, the fact that he's promised the chance to hit and pitch everyday provides for maximum entertainment. Seeing the Angles come to town was always interesting because you got to see Trout in person, but now you'll get to see Ohtani as well. It's also great that he didn't go to a team like the Dodgers that were already a WS contender without him.
And a full season of Justin Upton. If they add another pitcher, they could be real serious contenders.
This surprises me. I thought he and his camp made it obvious his preference was to do both. Why make a serious run at him if you were not prepared to offer him a chance to do both?
They're definitely the clear second best team in the division with a healthy trout and Ohtani. Serious contenders for the wild card, no doubt. Not sure they're in a position to contend for the divisional crown though. Not trying to take away from the signing. Definitely a really good move for them.
Should have just signed with the Dodgers if he wanted to live in LA. They are much much better roster-wise.
He likely can't be a hitter with the Dodgers. He made clear his goal wasn't just to latch onto the best team. He wants to be part of a foundation of a rebuild.
He didn’t go to the Dodgers or Yankees so that alone is good news for the Astros. It would have been nice if he went to San Diego but this is fine. Angels have a good competitive team. The Astros could be even better than last year.
Was just reading this article... https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wa...254e08-dc4d-11e7-a841-2066faf731ef_story.html And it was all good until I came across this atroxity: "their roster is graced by the consensus best player in the game, center fielder Mike Trout, for at least the next three years." It grinds my gears when media throw around words like 'consensus' so lightly.
I would have to agree with that though. Mike Trout is the best player in the league. If he were in the playoffs routinely then people would bow down.
I had a feeling someone would say that. Have some love for your own team bro.... Altuve>Trout. Correa soon to be as well. I would not trade either of them for Trout.
