    eta: He was awesome at the ACL fest back in the day...HUGE thunderstorm is rolling in, he stuck it out until it got unsafe, he said "If yall want to stick around, we'll be back for more later." We were, he did.

    Heh, usually don't get affected by celebrity deaths but reading this headline actually made me anxious. Hope he pulls through or goes out peacefully and as painlessly as possible, whatever the outcome is.

    Just heard on the radio that TMZ is reporting that at the hospital there was no brain activity and life support has been pulled. THis is TMZ so take it with a shaker of salt .

    We're told after Petty got to the hospital he had no brain activity and a decision was made to pull life support.

    No ****ing way. Wow, this hurts badly.

    What a horrible day. Las Vegas is bad enough, but now I have to absorb losing a hell of a good musician and songwriter, who led the second best band I ever saw backing up Bob Dylan. Damn, this is bad news.
