The truth is in the middle. I don't think Vince would have ever been an above average NFL QB but he was still in a cruddy situation with a coach that didn't want him in the first place. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. We'll see what he decides to do now. He should write a memoir. I'm sure it would be a good read and a good movie if it had a 3rd act. He matured and got past all the drama but it hasn't taken him anywhere of note. He's a good guy. I hope he finds something new to put his energy into.
Um no. I never said that he wasn't given an award so I wasn't wrong about anything. In fact, do you care to point out what you think I was "wrong" about or is this just some kind of tantrum on your part?
Stop it with the blaming Fisher BS!!! That was SEVEN yrs ago. Since then he was cut by Philly/Andy Reid ('11), Buffalo ('12), GB ('13), Clev ('14), out of football in '15-'16, and now cut by a team in the CFL. NFL teams will practically give anyone a chance if they think you might be able to help them win (thus all the chances he's already received). He's a Houston kid and I hope nothing but the best for him moving forward.
http://www.chron.com/sports/cougars...-UH-football-team-his-steakhouse-12160859.php Vince Young hosts UH football team at his steakhouse AUSTIN - As the University of Houston football team has spent five days here, coach Major Applewhite has heard from many old friends. One of them fed the team Tuesday night. Vince Young, the Madison product who led the University of Texas to the 2005 national title, hosted the Cougars at his VY Steakhouse. "It was a much-needed escape," Applewhite posted on Twitter, adding the hashtag #4thand5 in recognition of Young's late fourth-quarter touchdown run that sealed the win over USC.
^ so is that ok with regard to amateur rules and whatnot? I don't personally care one way or the other... the whole thing is just confusing.
Right, to be clear, when I said I don't personally care whether they got free steaks or not, I mean it. One day the system will change, maybe for the better, maybe not. I'm just pointing out that it seems pretty clear here they are getting free something because they are football players on the team.
