hey guys... I've lived up in NYC for about 8 years now but got a call from my parents late last night that my old next door neighbor — a kid I grew up with for a decade — drowned in the flooding on Fish Creek Thoroughfare... this **** sucks. please wish the Feuerstein family thoughts and prayers.
This has been difficult reading all week long, and heartbreakingly frustrating to be on the outside looking in, and powerless to help. This is the hardest post I've read yet. I am SO sorry to hear this and so sorry for your loss. I don't know what else to say, except to say you have my sincere condolences.
So sorry, @gatsby , and I've been wondering about these low casualty numbers. Probably many more difficult stories still to come. So sad. Where is fish creek?
I'm sorry to hear that, @gatsby, being powerless is such a humbling thing. I hope you can make it to his funeral and celebrate his life with all of his friends and family.
Don't even want to know how many old people or ones without family have drowned and will only be recovered after the water is gone.
Thanks all... I know it's a super hard time for everyone. Having been born/lived in The Woodlands for 15+ years, I had never heard of Fish Creek Thoroughfare either but surprised to learn it's only about 20 minutes away from our old home. This is what the news report said: I hope we don't get more stories of deaths. Losing homes and possessions, while it absolutely sucks (my stepparents just lose their home in Harvey so I know too well), I've come to realize is really different from losing life.
The last sentence of The Great Gatsby: “So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” He will not be forgotten. And my most sincere condolences to you and yours.
Geez man, that's terrible. His family needs all the love and support they can get. Drowning stories hit me hard man. So brutal.
Very sorry to hear that and my deepest condolencies to your neighbor's family. Unfortunately we're going to be hearing more and more about this as waters recede and searches can proceed.
