Not the intent of the poll.

The violent KKK/Neo folks are on another level. Disgusting groups that should be prosecuted when they commit crimes. I just noticed some of commenters on the WaPo reporting of this that said that these folks were heroes/should not be prosecuted so I wanted to gauge the sentiment here.

You can say their heart is in the right place but their actions are silly and obviously illegal. You really can't say that about neo-nazis.

Well, glad you can see that CF is pretty reasonable on the whole.
Also, we should remember that the "comments section" of America is what got us in this mess. :D

Yes. Prosecute them and give them a one way ticket straight to Montego Bay.

Well, yes. I agree that the statue should come down but there is a process to be followed for such things. Several cities, in fact, have removed confederate monuments after going through the process.

By the way, I am kind of amused by the Amazon product ads displayed when I opened this page:

Guess Amazon thinks that I have an interest in "America," "Civil War" and "Statue."

OK, seems there is a lot of effort to defend Trump by false equivalences like "well, if you oppose white nationalists, you have to also oppose Antifa".

Anyone that breaks the law should be arrested and face trial. Folks with strong enough beliefs to do something like this may be willing to serve time to do it and may believe their cause is just. That is often the thinking of people that protest using sit-ins and protest marches.

I'm against digging up his grave, but Nathan Bedford Forrest is not a US veteran.

PM me if you want to get personal with name-calling. I have been really nice to everyone on this forum even when I disagree.

That's not strictly true. The government recognizes Confederate soldiers as US soldiers and grants them the same benefits as any other veteran and there were plenty of Confederate soldiers and their children who received benefits from the VA much more recently than you probably think.

The reason the military refused to change the name of some of their bases that were named after Confederates was that they regard Confederate officers and soldiers as US soldiers.

Personally, the Confederacy means absolutely nothing to me. My people weren't even in this country at the time but attempting to erase history is never smart.
