There is no playing time for Wade here unless Gordon gets injured. He is going to take a buyout to come play 5-10 minutes in Houston on an irregular basis? No chance.

 

We ran a four guard rotation last year with no problem. Wade doesn't need anything over 22 minutes per game which can be had, especially towards the end of the year when we try resting James and CP3 a little more.

 

Wade is making $20+ million this season. Next summer he can join us for the vet minimum of around $2.5 mil. At best he could make around $10-14 mil on the open market next year, with his age and injury history. So we're talking about a $7.5-11.5 mil pay cut to play with his friends, and maybe one last shot at a ring.

Melo is using Portland as leverage to pressure HOU and NYK to get a deal done. Melo does not actually want to go to Portland.
