Yep I've been saying this issue with brown needs to be resolved. We're too limited on our line already to not have him. Nelson kinda sh*^ the bed I agree. Watson, Cunningham, and foreman looked great for their rookie debuts. Still don't know why we couldn't keep bouye and get rid of Joseph. Savage looked solid but he won't stay healthy for long considering history repeating itself. I will say for just a first preseason game, I ended up being satisfied
Had dinner with some friends, and I recorded the game. Fast forwarded through it. I like Deshaun and Foreman.
My very simple analysis. Savage playing looked exactly like last year, slow start and tons of checkdowns/short throws. Watson playing looked way different than last year, more dynamic and displayed all types of throws.
To be fair, this is his 4th season and he has yet to take a snap in a regular season game. So, he's a professional in the sense that he's getting paid to be on a roster...but the preseason is the only chance he's got to actually put on a gameday jersey.
It was very obvious that Watson is a superior athlete, even on a field of the best. I was a Savage supporter, I think he could be an adequate NFL QB, but Watson looks like he could be an elite QB. His awareness and ability to extend the play is going to produce a lot of big plays. A couple of big plays a game paired with a top ranked front 7 and you make the playoffs. I'm all in on Watson.
Ugly start to the game. Of course it's hard to take too much from the first couple of series but lets hope it's not a trend. As he's shown in the past, once Savage settles down he moves the ball decently although I would have liked to see him throw down field more, but again, it's practice. Watson was exciting. He definitely showed things texans fans aren't used to as the QB position. There were a couple throws in particular that were just completely off the mark and those a scary. Cunningham looked really good and Foreman impressed. Blue looked solid too. The secondary looked shaky.
Wow, great to see an interception free game! Our quarterbacks and running backs are going to be much more fun to watch this year. I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed in our defense. I expected more from them, even if it is preseason. Our secondary and offensive line worry me the most.
Watson played very well as the first game in NFL. Foreman was impressed. Every young player played well.
Our weak secondary continues to be a problem. I just don't understand how this hasn't been addressed.
I counted 5 really bad throws, 2 intermediate, 2 short, 1 deep I wonder if he'd be able to run around behind the LOS as much if he was against a first string defense, his elusiveness is amazing, but I just feel like he'd run into a bit of trouble against starters. I liked that he's smart enough to slide, that is something that he'll have to do if he's going to be doing a lot of running. If not for the bad footwork and inconsistent accuracy, he'd be starting. That said, if Savage struggles he'll be right there.
