That really sucks, its only a few weeks into the season but he's been playing like an MVP. At least this year they have depth up front to maybe tread water til he recovers (Cubo, Mauro, Elis, Quito, Boniek is a pretty deep group). They need to find another defender if they want to really compete. Defense still looks pretty bad. It would be great if they actually spent some money on a high profile center back, but thats unlikely. Even a Euro player looking to retire soon could be a quick fix this season to help them compete. Someone like John Terry would be a huge upgrade right now
Manotas looking great in his only start this year. It's gonna be hard to keep him out of the lineup, but I don't know how you play Cubo, Mauro, Elis and Quito together.
Great win tonight, Cubo was fantastic with the hat trick. Defense looks a lot better with Anibaba rather than Leonardo at CB
You can't but you find more and more ways to get him on the field. He certainly deserves more time than Wenger. He should be the first offensive sub off the bench in every game. They can use him to rotate through the rest of the guys to help keep them fresh. They definitely looked good and Cubo is just on fire right now. Amazing how a certain voice can get one guy going like that. They're going to have to add around him because they aren't a very good team. Last place the last 2 season, IIRC. He's certainly still young enough at 32 to make a difference there. They just need some players that can work off of him and find the spaces that he's going to find...and then finish what he puts on a platter for them. And the reporters in Chicago, too. They're going to have to improve on their basic knowledge and not ask idiotic questions about if the Chicago Fire can qualify for the World Cup.
What a stupid waste of a game. Up 2-0 against a terrible team who had to burn 2 subs in the 1st half for injury...only to tie because of 2 moments of defensive idiocy. The defense is an absolute mess and Joe Willis was horrible. Minny did a good job to keep Torres out of the game for the most part. But the wings and mids did nothing to help, constantly giving the ball away in bad positions. That was a terribly played game and they should be embarrassed by it.
smh @ the Dynamo tonight in Toronto. Why are they historically bad on the road? It's been for the past 7-8 years.
Im also not a huge fan of this formation that keeps both Quioto and Monotas on the bench. Gotta keep at least 1 of em on the field
In this case, I'd say it's a younger team with some players new to the league that aren't used to the long travel. Or, they just aren't as good as we hoped. I think this is a .500 team at best right now. We're going to win some games but if they don't find some midfield help this summer, aren't going to be much better than we are right now. We need someone to hold, create, and distribute in the middle. Until that changes, you can expect much of the same.
