Westbrook was largely bad tonight, but he got a triple double and his teammates helped him get the win against San Antonio

Prepare yourself for the next 48 hour media cycle of Westbrook fawning

Close, but you didn't consider Kawhi goes to locker room and Webber says that shows how great he is because SAS has no closer on the floor

Win win for WB and Kawhi

Not really. Westbrook got the triple double. It's important to remember that is all that matters when it comes to Westbrook.

A loss? Meh, no big. A win? Huge deal. Shows the importance of his ALL AROUND DOMINANCE

But the triple double is the only true factor.

I wouldn't so much say he's trusting his 'garbage' teammates.

To me it was more of ensuring he racked up those 10 assists first before taking his own shots... which he proceeded to take 4 of immediately after notching the 10th.

Just lol at the Rockets only getting the Spurs' good game the past week or so.

Russ wasn't great, got his triple double, but his teammates played well. His teammates aren't garbage. They are still 7th seed, still in danger of not getting 50 wins.

Kawhi and the spurs lose. won't overtake GSW (yet) for first seed.

I think this was as good a result as there can be..

You're missing the point. It does not matter that he didn't play well. He got the triple double, and the win to boot. But the triple double is what's most important. Mission accomplished in the eyes of the media.

When it comes to Westbrook the narrative will never change. He is going to get his triple double because you can tell he has an active tally in his head. I think voters will focus on wins; 50 is the number. This was a great win for OKC, but I think they will continue to lose the more Westbrook is concerned with his totals.

I think it was more important that OKC prevented the Spurs from getting a little closer to that 1st seed.

The funny thing is when I play myPlayer on NBA 2k this is the easiest way to get a triple double. Just get your assists out of the way, the rebounds will come, the points are the easiest to get. It does say something that this dude is averaging 10 apg, I don't think that's a coincidence at all. Why not 11 or 12?

Do you remember that one time when the Spurs rested their players against the Rockets? That was awesome.

I didn't see the MVP in Oklahoma City. He must be in Chicago dousing his steak in A.1. Sauce.

Hence why he's still my pick to win. They can't get past the narrative.

Will they focus on wins in the end? Maybe, but we've heard things all year about Harden "needing to win 60+", and that ain't happening, so....

Maybe I'm wrong. I sure hope so, because I think Harden deserves it more. Has a much better combination of efficiency/stats/winning/exceeding expectations. But will that matter? The way it sounds, I don't think it will.

"best player on the best team" <--- how many times did we hear this two years ago
I hate the moving the bar narrative that is happening this year. . . . .

If Kawhi wins. . i will be upset but i could at least applaud the consistency . ..

In one game Nurkic had new career highs in points, rebounds, assists, and blocks. Talking about a career night.

Nurkic's got some skills and he is massive. He's finally got a chance to play big minutes now in Portland. It's interesting to see what he can do.

First Players in 30 years to get 28 points, 20 rebounds, 8 assist, 6 blocks since Charles Barkley > LOL

This guy is playing like an ALL STAR with the Blazers. And Blazer get this guy for another year on a ROOKIE CONTRACT and a 1st Round Pick !!! Denver gave all this up for 3 months of Mason Plumee and NO PLAYOFF.

Blazers are going to beat Nuggets to Playoff because of NURKIC!!!!

Cavs gonna choke the #1 seed? Just 2 games up on Boston, 3 on Washington, 4.5 on Toronto.

1-4 in last 5; 5-5 in last 10. ... Orlando Saturday, Houston Sunday.
