I imagine because of last season without George. They still won 38 games but that and this season where a lot of things went wrong for the Pacers, are the two "bad" seasons for Vogel and brought down his winning percentages.

Before these past two years, Vogel had a winning percentage over 0.620, which is pretty good.

Now that Vogel is available, I rather have him than JVG it pains me to say. I think Vogel is a better overall coach.

Well there was that year where George missed basically the entire regular season and they were an eight seed.

I'm all for Vogel. He made Roy Hibbert look like a star center for at least a couple of seasons. That's gotta be worth something.

He had Myles Turner playing great after one season as well.

Could do some great work with Capela and whoever else they bring in at C

I'm all for JVG. He made yao Ming look like an MVP for at least a couple of seasons. That's gotta be worth something.

I don't know if I can take a full season of looking at those nostrils.

Top 3 coach in the NBA?

    Nope.

    Top 15-ish coach. (10-15 range)

Good enough. He's an actual basketball coach instead of a cheerleader.

I'd need to know who his assistants were going to be before I could get excited about him.

It's hilarious to see some of the people pimping for Vogel in here though. I don't think they know that he is a stats nerd, former video analyst and analytics fan. LOL

I really think Vogel is the right guy for the job and I hope we snag him before the Knicks do.

Pretty confident he's not going to NY. Hates the triangle.

Best case scenario - D'Antoni AND Vogel - the one two punch of offense/defense. D'Antoni has been an assistant of late - I don't really care who is the head coach, but those two would be a nice complement to each other and both could do some really good things for this roster.

I like him, but indeed with top notch assistants. I don't feel Vogel is going to get all up in Harden's grill, but then again, would Morey hire such a person?

He's been to the Eastern Conference Finals twice.

People forget that that 2013-14 Pacers team had a record of 46-13 at one point. That's a winning percentage of .780 and is on pace for a record of 64-18.

They finished the season 10-13 after they traded Danny Granger for Evan Turner. Not that it's Evan Turner's fault... I'm just saying around that time is when they hit a skid. They still finished as the #1 seed in the East.

One of the best defensive coaches in the league. Since he's been coach of the Pacers, his team's defensive rankings have been:

    9th
    1st
    1st
    7th (year Paul George missed)
    3rd

And unlike JVG (although I like JVG), Vogel has had great defenses in this current era. He's proven he can win right now.

yeaaa... anybody could have done that. Hibbert is trash, Yao wasn't. Not sure if you were proposing an analogy but it was terrible
