Agree...Yao got tons of support from the Rockets, the fans, etc. There were some people who think the media was not fair to him because of his race when they said Dwight Howard was the best center in the NBA (after Shaq left), but on the whole, Yao was loved by Houston fans. A lot of it was because the Rockets' organization put their full support behind Yao...they built the team around him, brought in a coach (van Gundy) who had a philosophy that was a perfect fit around Yao, had Hakeem and Ewing come in to help develop Yao's game, etc.

    You are my pal.

Lin was never a Net. So there's no correlation between your team fandom and Jeremy Lin and the Rockets.

This site has a NBA Dish section for the Rockets fans to discuss other NBA topics. It's not a half way house for fans stuck in limbo.

I haven't seen any New Orleans Hornets fans here while they were transitioning to find a new team.

Yes I understand people being player only fans and going to team sites where they play. But we're 2 teams removed from the Rockets for Jeremy Lin, yet his fans are still here wanting to talk Jeremy Lin with Rockets fans.

    You don't find that odd?

So if one Rocket fan thinks Lin sucks another Rocket fan might not think he doesn't. But you throw in some trash Lin fan , then they take this personally and go off on some tangent about Lin's race and struggles as a Palo Alto raised kid etc

So do see why this is obnoxious right?

Correct. He was fellow Ivy League grad and he's Asian-American. I also like his style of play and his character as a human being. These are the reasons why I am a fan.

Like I said, I became active here because this was a very active forum before I got here. If there was no active Jeremy Lin thread on this board, I would not be here. I don't post on Lakers boards, because nobody there talks about him.

Sure it is obnoxious. So are the "Lin is garbage" and "Lin was the reason why Houston lost a playoff series to Portland" comments. But does anybody take those seriously? I'm having fun here. I hope you are too.

I wouldn't post this much if it wasn't fun.

Lin is garbage and Lin is why we lost a playoff series to Portland is actually based on watching him play for 2 years here with his hype and his contract and his army of mindless fans. It's pent up frustration from a passionate team fan base.

You think when Lin go Mo Williams "Lin is garbage" was shouted out? No dude. it was full of foul words.

you don't think Rockets fans were sick of the airballs and jump passes to nobody?

There's pent up frustration on Harden now in the GARM, but nobody is asking if somebody is Filipino or putting caps on Asians at Ivy League schools

There's OBVIOUSLY and underlying insecurity that Lin fans have latched on to Lin based on his story.

No more Lo Pans, we don't want Big Trouble in Little Clutchfans

I watched him in Houston for 2 years as well. Not sure exactly how many airballs he shot, but his shooting percentage was pretty similar to Harden's and pretty reasonable overall, so not sure why airballs are such an issue to you when he scored at a pretty good rate. And Jeremy was 3rd on the team in turnover rate (not first), so if there was frustration with him for that, there should be frustration with other players about that too. Not saying at all that Jeremy is on-par with Harden offensively...but to say Lin was garbage in Houston really doesn't make any sense at all. Agree that he was not worth $15M, so trading him was the right decision...but the productivity the team got from Lin based on a $5M/year contract was a good value.

Then pent up frustration with Harden now has everything to do with his attitude. Jeremy came to play hard every game, played unselfishly, and tried to support his teammates. As Casspi tweeted when Lin was traded, "love you bro. The best guy I never played with. Will miss you." I doubt anyone would ever tweet that about Harden.

What does being Filipino have anything to do with this?

ask colt45nyc, he's asking people what race they are.

Yes, Harden's entitled attitude sucks this year, but I'm not offended if any Rocket fan rips on him because they are disappointed.

Well, I guess me and Morey think alike cause Lin got traded after that Portland series. Basically given away since they packaged him with a pick.

And the Lakers did not resign him.

You have your Lin fan glasses on. I was at the Sportsbook in Vegas with another clutchfan when Lin was a Laker. He jacked up an airball against portland (i believe this was after he said that he wanted to take game winners) and everyone at the sportsbook said he sucks..

maybe because he made them lose a bet. but it was complete strangers.

Sure Lin is playing about the same or slightly better with Charlotte, but this role and team are not as stressful or have as high expectations than his last 3 teams.

Like I said, I agree that Lin was not playing well enough to be worth $15M, so trading him was the right move. It didn't have anything to do with the specifics of the Portland series. If Lin truly was garbage, how was he getting 28 minutes per game with Houston?

What the Lakers do with Byron Scott as coach and Kobe on his farewell tour are meaningless. Every player that left the Lakers after last season is having a much better season this year.

Regarding his time in Charlotte, he's actually not shooting very well this season (FTs included), but he has become their best defensive player (with MKG out) on a team that plays good defense. The main thing about Charlotte, tho, is that he is being treated fairly...he was signed to be a backup, and Kemba Walker is the first PG Lin has played with in the NBA after Linsanity happened who is a legitimate starting PG. So while I wish Lin would have the opportunity to be the starting PG in Charlotte, I am fine with Kemba Walker in that role because he is qualified and deserves it...and Lin has the trust and support of his coaches/teammates in the role that he has.

You appear to be a legit nba fan, you don't need to make up an outrageous story that you are some 200 year old Astros fan in a wheel chair looking for some green eye people.

I'm a real fan of both the Astros and Mets because they were the new teams formed in 1962 and I am always rooting for the underdog. I'm a Lin Fan and his basketball underdog beginnings.

The Asian one of the Blonde Hair one?

    I'll take both.
